Discussing Andy Murray's quest for a grand slam title.

Andy Murray – How the hell are you!

A fine win for Andy yesterday.  Although Dustin Brown is an entertainer rather than a quality tennis player, it was encouraging that Murray won an electric first set.  After that, it was really only a matter of time.

It was worrying to see Murray close to tears during the first set.  Brown’s supporters were raucous.  Murray’s were not.

Murray needs to grow up, get a grip, and get serious.  This isn’t high-school.  Perhaps over mothered?

Moving on……

Is Andy abiding by the rules laid out for him by the ‘Tennis Doctor’? (Andy be a good little boy).

His first serve over the two matches is at 59%.  I’d like to see that up to at least 61%, as he needs more ‘free’ points.

He has double-faulted three times per match.  This is fine and I would actually think this should increase, as he should occasionally be a bit more risky with the pace of his second serve.

Andy has managed to get through the first two matches without dropping a set, so he has managed to conserve energy.  However, he has played two donkeys and from now on he’ll be playing qualified tennis players.

Murray was moaning about his wrist being sore (no more twitter?), but hopefully it isn’t anything serious.

Next up is Stanislas Wawrinka.  They had that epic 5-setter at Wimbledon in 2009, but Andy normally seems to get the better of him.

No pressure Andy.
